You Are Magical – Bright & Bold Sketch Challenge Card

You Are Magical – Bright & Bold Sketch Challenge Card

Ready to add some color and sparkle to your cardmaking? Today’s project was inspired by Love From Lizi's Sketch Challenge #3 and brought to life using one of my favorite die sets and the Brights paper pack from Love From Lizi. With a mix of rainbow hues, gold accents, and a whimsical unicorn girl, this card is sure to brighten anyone’s day!

This card features a half-panel geometric background built with tiny stitched squares in a rainbow of colors. Gold pinstripe stickers add shine and clean definition, while a playful unicorn girl and bold sentiment bring it all together with magical vibes.

Additional Supplies:

  • COPIC markers

  • Gold glitter pen

  • Brother Scan N Cut

  • Foam tape

  • Scissors

  • Paper trimmer

  • Mod Podge

  • Clear flat sequins

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Sketch Planning:

I started by lightly drawing a guide with a pencil from the bottom 1/3 of a 4.25" x 5.5" card panel to the midpoint of the right side, following Love From Lizi's Sketch Challenge #3.

  2. Die Cutting & Assembly:

I die cut small stitched squares from the polka dot patterned papers in rainbow colors and adhered them along the diagonal guideline, trimming off the excess.

  3. Adding Shine:

After erasing the pencil marks, I added straight gold peel-off stickers between each square and around the full rainbow half of the card.

  4. Circle Accent:

I die cut a large circle from the same gold peel-off stickers and sealed it with Mod Podge. I backed it with a white cardstock circle for stability.

  5. Stamping & Coloring:

I stamped and colored the unicorn girl from the "Little Bit of Magic" stamp set using rainbow Copic markers and added a glittery gold horn. I also stamped and die cut the sentiment "You Are Magical", as well as the unicorn girl, using my Brother Scan N Cut.

  6. Final Assembly:

I adhered the circle element with foam tape, followed by the girl and sentiment. I added clear flat sequins for sparkle and mounted the panel to a top-folding A2 card base.

This card was such a fun way to use up colorful scraps and peel-offs while playing along with a sketch challenge. I love how the geometric layout pairs with the magical theme!

Thanks for stopping by! Until next time—stay crafty, and don’t forget to create a little magic of your own.
