SPRING WISHES EASEL CARD

SPRING WISHES EASEL CARD

Hey everybody, I hope you’re having a great week! Are you a fan of fun folds? I would rather make a fun fold over a regular A2 card any day of the week! Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a Spring-themed circular easel card featuring our Rise and Shine Stamp Set, Floral Wellington Boot Cutting die, and Matte Silver Sway Peel-Off Stickers - all from our March release! I also used additional dies, papers and embellishments from the store. This circular easel card with an acetate front may look daunting but it’s really fairly simple, so let’s get started!

These are the products I used on my project which may include affiliate/ad links that earn me a commission at no additional cost to you.
1. Rise and Shine Stamp Set
2. Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Dies
3. Floral Wellington Boot Cutting Die
4. Winter Rose Cutting Dies
5. Linen Rainbow 6x6 Patterned Paper Pack
6. Love You 6x6 Specialty Paper Pack
7. Matte Silver Sway Peel-Off Stickers
8. Mini Pearl Strips

CUT THE CARD BASE & LAYERS

All of the following base and layer pieces are cut with our Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Dies. Note: When looking at the die set, I’ve denoted the sizes of the dies used as being the ‘largest’ in the set (counting from the outside) or the ‘smallest’ in the set (counting from the inside).

White cardstock:
1. Card base: Use the largest die in the set to cut the card base. Be sure to place the die slightly over the folded edge of the cardstock so it’s not cut in two.
2. Frames: Use the largest and 3rd largest dies in the set to cut three frames. Secure the dies together with low-tack tape to cut all the frames. Leave the frames attached as you will need to cut one more from red linen paper as per the step below.
3. Layering panel: Use the 7th largest die in the set to cut an inside layering panel.
4. Sentiment panel/stopper: Use the 7th smallest die in the set to cut a panel for the sentiment which will double as the stopper.

Patterned paper (floral print) from the Love You 6x6 Specialty Paper Pack:
1. Inside layering panel: Use the largest die in the set to cut the main inside layering panel.

Red linen paper from the Linen Rainbow 6x6 Patterned Paper Pack:
1. Frame: Use the largest and 3rd largest dies in the set to cut one frame.
2. Layering panel: use the 5th largest die in the set to cut an inside layering panel.

Acetate:
1. Front layering panel: Use the largest die in the set to cut the front see-through layering panel.

CUT AND FOLD THE FRONT FLAP

Use the 3rd largest die in the set to cut an aperture into the front flap. This will leave an attached frame which will be the same size as the other four frames you cut in the steps above.

Gently fold the attached frame in half and burnish the fold lines. The easel feature is beginning to form.

ADHERE THE LAYERS

Begin by adhering the floral patterned paper to the card base. Fold the attached frame backwards and trim off the small section at the top just under the fold line so the card closes smoothly.

Next, adhere the acetate layering panel to the back side of the red linen frame.

Similarly, adhere two of the white frames together. You will have one white frame leftover which you’ll save for another step.

Lastly, adhere the white layering panel to the red linen layering panel. You’ll have the smaller sentiment/stopper panel leftover which you’ll save for another step.

CREATE THE EASEL FEATURE

Apply adhesive only to the bottom half of the attached frame (below the fold lines) and adhere the red frame with the acetate, lining up the edges. This is the easel feature.

Now flatten out the card base and flip it over. Take the two white frames that you adhered together earlier and gently bend them in half. Adhere them to the back side of the red frame with the acetate, applying glue only to the top portion above the fold lines.

If you lift up the solid portion of the base (which is on the left side in my photos), you will now see three half-frame layers that are not glued together. I propped the solid portion up on a sanding block so you can easily see what the card should look like so far.

Glue the top and middle layers together, leaving the bottom layer flat on your work surface.

The easel feature is now complete and the card is ready to embellish.

DIE CUT THE EMBELLISHMENTS

Using the Floral Wellington Boot Cutting Die, cut two boots from a coordinating print in the Love You 6x6 Specialty Paper Pack. Trim off the floral element at the top of each one and apply a small piece of Matte Silver Sway Peel-Off Sticker.

Additionally, use the large floral die in the Winter Rose Cutting Dies to cut three roses from white cardstock.

ADHERE THE EMBELLISHMENTS

Adhere the three roses to the acetate front along with the Wellington boots.

COMPLETE THE PROJECT

Add a strip of ten pearls from the Mini Pearl Strips to the front of each boot. I added a sole to each boot by simply die cutting the very bottom portion of the boot (twice) from a red linen scrap. I trimmed them and adhered one to each boot. Easy peasy!

Stamp a sentiment from the Rise and Shine Stamp Set in red ink on the smallest sentiment/stopper panel. Use the 6th smallest die in the set to cut a circle of 3mm adhesive foam to place underneath this panel, and adhere it to the inside. You can also use adhesive foam strips for this.

Gently tuck the bottom of the easel behind the stopper and the card will stand for display.

I added a custom sentiment that I typed on my computer as well as a left over frame to the bottom of the card to create an area to sign and/or write a short message. This step is completely optional and not required.
