SENDING LOVE ON BUTTERFLY WINGS
Hey everybody! Happy Wednesday – I hope you’re having a beautiful week and it’s warming up a bit where you are, with Spring on the way! Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a tented easel card featuring our Butterfly Wings Stamp Set. I also used some mirror cardstock, an additional stamp set, some nested cutting dies, and the centers from the purple butterfly border peel-off stickers. This tented easel card is seriously easy, so let’s get started!

CUT CARD BASE & LAYERS
Hot pink cardstock:
1. Card base: 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 4-1/4″ and 8-1/2″, making the folded card 4-1/4″ square
2. Stopper/bottom sentiment panel: 1-1/8” x 4”
Patterned paper (from the Love You 6x6 Specialty Paper Pack):
1. Front layering panel: 4″ x 4″
2. Bottom layering panel: 2-1/4″ x 4″
3. Inside sentiment panel embellishment strip: 1/2" x 3-7/8”
Purple mirror cardstock (from the Matte Mirror Pastel Specialty Cardstock Bundle):
1. Stopper/bottom sentiment layering panel: 1-1/4” x 4”
White cardstock:
1. Inside sentiment panel: 4″ x 4″
CREATE FOCAL IMAGE
Using the Stitched Label Nested Cutting Dies, cut a label shape from the hot pink cardstock with the sixth largest die, and then cut one slightly smaller from white cardstock with the seventh largest die.
Stamp the large butterfly from the Butterfly Wings stamp set in black ink on white cardstock. Color the image and then fussy cut it. You’ll notice I started out with coral/salmon colors and then darkened the florals up with reds which matched the papers better.
ADHERE LAYERS
Adhere the front layering panel and bottom layering panel (both cut from patterned paper) to the card base.
Cut a 4” strip from the purple butterfly border peel-off stickers and gently lay it down across the bottom of the easel portion of the card front, about 1/8” up from the bottom edge, being careful to not push down too hard. Use the rounded end of a small craft tool (I used a small blending brush handle) to push down on just the center of each butterfly to adhere them to the patterned paper. Lift the remaining part of the border strip up off the patterned paper, leaving just the row of tiny butterflies.
Adhere the two label die cuts together. Glue the butterfly body flat to the label background and then pop the wings up on adhesive foam squares for a little dimension.
Next, adhere the patterned paper embellishing strip to the white inside sentiment panel.
ADD SENTIMENTS & COMPLETE PROJECT
Stamp the sentiment from the Butterfly Wings Stamp Set on the hot pink stopper/bottom sentiment panel.
Sidebar note: You’ll notice I started out with coral/salmon colors on the butterfly image and it was at this point that I darkened the florals up with reds which matched the papers better.
It was also at this point that I decided to run the hot pink panel through the Big Shot with a large Stitched Rectangle Nested Cutting Die lined up on each long side so the panel has the stitched border to match the label shapes on the front. This is totally optional and not necessary, but does add a pretty detail.
Adhere the hot pink panel to the purple mirror cardstock panel and then adhere it to the bottom portion of the card base, about 1/8” up from the bottom edge, popping it up on 1” adhesive foam strip. This is the stopper which will help the easel card to stand for display.
Stamp a sentiment from the Simply Amazing Stamp Set on the white inside sentiment panel and adhere it to the inside of the card base.
The card is now complete and ready to stand for display by gently tucking the bottom of the easel portion behind the stopper.
