MAKE A WISH DIAMOND PANEL CARD

MAKE A WISH DIAMOND PANEL CARD

Hey everybody, happy Wednesday! Time sure is flying by and I can’t believe it’s nearly the end of May – and nearly the middle of the year! Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a diamond panel card with an acetate front that features papers, stamps, ephemera, and a few other embellishments from our June release. This design is beautiful in any color combo and really packs a punch, so let’s get started!

These are the products I used on my project which may include affiliate/ad links that earn me a commission at no additional cost to you.
Polka Dot 6x6 Paper Pack
Make A Wish Stamp Set
Make A Wish Ephemera
Pastel Puffy Alphabet 3D Stickers
Mini Twinkle Pink Holographic Peel-Off Stickers

CUT THE CARD BASE AND LAYERS

WHITE CARDSTOCK:
1.    Card base (back flap): 6” x 6”
2.    Layering panels: 3” x 3” (cut one) and 2” x 2” (cut eight)

CLEAR ACETATE:
1.    Card base (front flap): 6” x 6-1/2”, scored at 1/2" on long side

PATTERNED PAPER (ALL FROM POLKA DOT 6X6 PAPER PACK):
1.    Yellow polka dot: 2-3/4” x 2-3/4” (cut one)
2.    Pink polka dot: 1-3/4” x 1-3/4” (cut four)
3.    Green polka dot: 1-3/4” x 1-3/4” (cut four)

ADHERE THE LAYERS

Starting with the acetate panel, fold on the score line and burnish well with a bone folder. Fold the flap over one edge of the 6” x 6” white cardstock panel and adhere to the back side with a strong adhesive.

Next, adhere the yellow, pink and green polka dot panels to the white cardstock panels.

BUILD THE DIAMOND PANEL DESIGN

Using the photo as a guide for placement, build the diamond panel design on the acetate card front. Use a strong adhesive and lay down the four green diamonds first, then the four pink diamonds, and finally the yellow diamond.

CLEAN UP THE BACK SIDE

For a clean finished look on the back side of the acetate, copy the card front on your copy machine and trim the design to make a template. Trace it onto a piece of white cardstock, trim the design, and adhere it to the back side of the front flap. This will hide all those strips of adhesive used to adhere the diamonds.

An optional step is to adhere a 3/8” x 5-7/8” strip of white cardstock to the acetate flap on the back side of the card. Once again, this will hide the strip of adhesive used to adhere the acetate panel to the card base.

ADD IMAGE & SENTIMENT

Choose a fairy from the Make A Wish Ephemera and lay it in place on the yellow diamond (but don’t adhere it yet) to get the placement for the sentiment. Remove the fairy and stamp the first part of the sentiment from the Make A Wish Stamp Set in black ink. Adhere the letters from the Pastel Puffy Alphabet 3D Stickers to form the second part of the sentiment. Re-position the fairy and adhere with thin foam squares.

ADD EMBELLISHMENTS

Add some bling to each square using the Mini Twinkle Pink Holographic Peel-Off Stickers. I do apologize for the beads of light glare on my photos… acetate is so hard to photograph. I don’t know why I’m so drawn to using it on my projects, lol!

COMPLETE PROJECT

Stamp another sentiment from the Make A Wish Stamp Set on the inside and add another piece of ephemera. This will complete your card.
