Fluttering into Healing: A Rainbow Butterfly Get Well Soon Card

Fluttering into Healing: A Rainbow Butterfly Get Well Soon Card

Hello, crafty friends!

Today, I’m fluttering in with a bright and cheerful card featuring the "Bugs and Kisses" release from Love From Lizi! The design team is celebrating with an exciting Instagram Hop, so be sure to check out all the amazing inspiration!

For my project, I created a rainbow butterfly-themed "Get Well Soon" card using the stunning Butterfly Wishes stamp set and the Butterfly Background stamp. The dreamy blend of colors and the soft vellum detail give this card a delicate, uplifting feel—perfect for sending a little love and encouragement!

  • Love From Lizi "Butterfly Background"

  • Love From Lizi "Butterfly Wishes"

  • 110# white cardstock

  • watercolor cardstock

  • slow drying embossing ink

  • white super fine embossing powder

  • kid's watercolor set

  • round paintbrush

  • stitched circle dies

  • vellum

  • stitched scallop frame die

  • rhinestones in rainbow colors

  • liquid glue with fine tip nozzle

  • black ink

  • foam strips

  • foam squares

Creating the Card

Step 1: Embossing the Background

I started by stamping the Butterfly Background onto a piece of white cardstock using slow-drying embossing ink, then heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. Since the stamp wasn’t large enough to fill the entire panel, I repeated the process to extend the pattern seamlessly across the card.

Step 2: Adding a Rainbow of Colors

For a vibrant, uplifting touch, I used a kid's watercolor set (yes, you read that right—sometimes simple supplies create magic!) to blend a soft rainbow from the top left to the bottom right of the panel. Watching the colors flow together over the heat-embossed design was so satisfying!

Step 3: Creating the Butterfly Focal Point

To add dimension, I die cut a stitched circle from the center of the background panel. On a separate piece of vellum, I stamped the large butterfly image from the Butterfly Wishes stamp set and heat-embossed it in white. I then layered this behind the open circle, giving the butterfly a soft, dreamy effect.

But I didn’t stop there—I also took the embossed butterfly circle I had die-cut from the panel and taped it behind the vellum, reinforcing the design while adding subtle texture.

Step 4: Sentiment & Framing the Design

I stamped "Butterfly Wishes" and "Get Well Soon" in black ink on some white cardstock, then fussy-cut around the words to give them a custom die-cut look. To frame the entire design, I used a scalloped stitched frame die and layered it over the card panel for an elegant finishing touch.

Step 5: Assembling the Card

For a clean and crisp look, I adhered everything onto a white card base using foam adhesive to create dimension. A few iridescent gems sprinkled across the card added the perfect finishing sparkle!

Final Thoughts

This card was such a joy to make! The combination of heat embossing, watercolor, and vellum layering creates a soft yet vibrant design that’s perfect for brightening someone’s day.

I hope this inspires you to get creative with your supplies—especially those Crayola watercolors! Don’t forget to check out the Instagram Hop for more beautiful creations featuring the "Bugs and Kisses" release from Love From Lizi.
