Fancy Cut Hello

Fancy Cut Hello

Hey everybody! Another Wednesday has rolled around and I hope you’re having a good week! Has it warmed up any where you are? We’re in SW Colorado and have been seeing temps in the 40s and 50s, so that’s definitely a positive vibe! Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a collar fold card featuring our Just Because stamp set. I also used a variety of papers, an oval cutting die, and some peel-offs, which are all listed below. This isn’t a fun fold like I typically share, but it features a fancy cut that really packs a punch, so let’s get started!

PRODUCTS USED

These are the products I used on my project which may include affiliate/ad links that earn me a commission at no additional cost to you.
1.    Just Because stamp set
2.    Winter Warmers 6x6 Patterned Paper Pack
3.    Matte Mirror Pastel Specialty Cardstock Bundle
4.    Moondust Specialty Cardstock Bundle
5.    Stitched Oval Nested Cutting Dies
6.    Indigoletta Variety Peel-Off 4-Pack

CUT CARD BASE & LAYERS

White cardstock:
1
.    Card base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
2.    Inside panel: 4” x 5-1/4”

Teal Matte Mirror Pastel cardstock:
1.    Front panel: 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”
2.    Inside embellishing strip: 1/4" x 4”

Winter Warmers patterned paper:
1.    Front panel: 4” x 5-1/4”
2.    Inside embellishing strip: 1/2" x 4”

Pink Moondust cardstock:
1.    Front upper and lower triangles (these will be cut after the fancy cut is made in the patterned paper panel; see below*)

STAMP & CUT FOCAL IMAGE

Stamp the vase and florals from the Just Because stamp set in black ink on white cardstock. Color just the blooms and greenery, then fussy cut the full image.

Ink up just the vase portion of the image and stamp it in black ink on the light pink cardstock in the Winter Warmers Patterned Paper Pack. Color just the lace on the vase, then fussy cut the vase and adhere it to the full image.

FANCY CUT PANEL & ADHERE LAYERS

Glue the teal mirror cardstock to the front of the card base and set aside.

Next, turn the patterned paper panel to landscape orientation and place it in your paper trimmer. Measure over to 2-5/8” (which is half of 5-1/4”) and cut down 1-1/2”. Turn the panel back to portrait orientation with the cut on the right side, and trim from the upper right corner at an angle down to the end of the 1-1/2” cut line. Now, trim from the lower right corner at an angle up to the end of the 1-1/2” cut line. *Save the two triangles you just cut away for the next step.

Lay the two patterned paper triangles just cut away on top of the pink Moondust cardstock. Line up each piece on the edge and trace the other two sides with a pencil. Cut them out and adhere them to the patterned paper panel, lining up the edges.

Now, adhere the patterned paper and teal mirror cardstock strips to the inside panel.

ADD INSIDE SENTIMENT

Stamp the inside sentiment in black ink on the inside panel.

ADD FOCAL IMAGE & FRONT SENTIMENT

Adhere the vase with flowers to the card front, popping it up on foam strips. I ended up adding a little more color and a dimensional bloom to the focal image.

Stamp the front sentiment on a coordinating print in the Winter Warmers Patterned Paper Pack. Cut it using the next to smallest die in the Stitched Oval Nested Cutting Die and adhere it in the center of the fancy cut area.

Add green circle peel-offs from the Indigoletta Variety Peel-Off Pack to the center of several of the blooms on the patterned paper for a little bling.

COMPLETE PROJECT

Adhere the inside panel to the inside of the card, which will complete the project.
