Hey everybody, I hope the month of July has started off nicely and it isn’t too hot where you are! I have to say that Summer is not my favorite of the four seasons and I feel very blessed to be able to stay indoors and craft in the A/C. Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a double flap fun fold. There seem to be quite a few versions of the double flap fun fold out there but this one is my favorite. I used our Happy Days paper, Best Friends Forever stamps, and yellow pinstripe and black mini heart peel-offs - all from our July release. I also used an additional stamp set, a couple die sets and some gemstones from the store to make this card come to life. If you love fun folds, you’re going to love this one, so let’s get started!

CUT THE CARD BASE & LAYERS

GRAY CARDSTOCK:
1.    Card base: 4-1/4” x 7-1/2”, scored at 2”
2.    Second flap: 4-3/4” x 7”, scored at 3-1/2”

PATTERNED PAPER (FROM HAPPY DAYS 6X6 PAPER PACK):
1.    Card base background panel (gray and white dotted): 4-1/8” x 5-3/8” 
2.    Second flap (striped): 3-3/8” x 4-5/8” 
3.    Front flap (floral): 1-7/8” x 4-1/8”

WHITE CARDSTOCK:
1.    Inside sentiment panel: 3-1/4” x 4-1/2”




DIE CUT THE LABELS & CIRCLES

I used our Stitched Label Nested Cutting Dies and our Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Dies.

PINK CARDSTOCK:
1.    Front flap: Use the 6th largest label die 
2.    Second flap: Use the 7th largest label die

GRAY CARDSTOCK:
1.    Front flap: Use the 10th smallest circle die

WHITE CARDSTOCK: 
1.    Front flap: Use the 9th smallest circle die
2.    Second flap: Use the 8th smallest circle die




ADHERE THE LAYERS

Adhere the dotted and floral patterned paper panels to the card base.

Next, adhere the striped panel to the front of the second flap (folded piece), and the white sentiment panel to the inside of it. For a little interest, add several yellow pinstripe peel-offs and some mini black heart peel-offs, following the stripes on the patterned paper.

Now adhere the medium sized circle to the gray circle, and then both to the large label.

Similarly, adhere the smallest circle to the smaller label. 




ADD THE STAMPING

Stamp the front sentiment from the Best Friends Forever stamp set in black ink on the layered circle.

Next, stamp a sentiment from the Simply Amazing stamp set in black ink on the sentiment panel inside the second flap. I added a leftover strip of the dotted paper to embellish the sentiment panel.  

Then finally, stamp two florals from the Best Friends Forever stamp set in gray ink on the smaller circle and partially color the images with a pink alcohol marker. 




ASSEMBLE THE CARD

Begin by adhering just the top portion of the larger label to the front flap.

Then adhere the second flap (folded piece) to the background panel. 




Lift up the front flap and adhere the smaller label to the front of the second flap, ensuring that it’s hidden completely beneath the larger label on the front when the card is closed.




COMPLETE THE PROJECT

The only thing left to do is add a few gemstones from the Tropical Escapes Mix Size Gems.
